Since December of 2022, we’ve made progress educating our communities about recognizing the inherent rights of the Southern Resident Orcas.
In addition to receiving proclamations from cities/counties, The Great Old Broads for Wilderness, Lower Snake River Dam Committee of the Broads Regional Advocacy Committee, have proclaimed their recognition of the inherent rights of the Southern Resident Orcas.
The map below illustrates the cities and counties where decision makers have signed proclamations recognizing the inherent rights of the Southern Resident Orcas. Our hope is that all the cities/counties along the West Coast, where the SROs travel, will support similar proclamations. These are baby steps towards the larger effort which is a statewide bill being introduced into the legislature next year, and PASSING!
